CAF bans World Cup referee, Aden Marwa, for life over bribery

The Confederation of African Football (Caf) has banned Kenyan referee, Aden Marwa, from all football activities for life.  Aden Marwa was filmed receiving a 600-dollar bribe during Confederation of African Football assignment in Ghana. He is one of 22 referees sanctioned by the CAF in an unprecedented clean up, announced at the weekend. Another 11 referees - 10 Ghanaians and one Liberian - have been provisionally banned pending appearances before a Caf disciplinary board on 5 August. Last month, former Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi resigned as Caf's first vice-president over corruption allegations.

The Nigeria Super Eagles Captain John Mike Obi Paid 10million Naira Ransom to Obtain His Father From Kidnappers. According to the police, Obi’s father was on his way from Jos, Plateau State, in a grey colour Toyota Prado when he was kidnapped. John Mike Obi paid a ransom of N10 million naira to release of his father, who is in his sixties. The kidnappers were said to have demanded a N10 million ransom from the Obi family before he was released. Although the elderly man was not hurt, he was however forced to walk for about five kilometres three miles barefoot in the heavy rain.
